Designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology, the new RB330 is the culmination of more than 35 years of tonearm design experience. Featuring a brand new bearing housing, and Rega's latest tonearm tube designed using intelligent redistribution of mass ensure this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Rega has pioneered the use of lightweight rigid plinths. Clever use of lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by the now iconic original Planar range.
The new Planar 3 takes this design philosophy to the next level. A lightweight acrylic laminated plinth strengthened using a new improved double brace system mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) which forms a structurally sound "stressed beam" assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which will add unnatural distortions to the music.
Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas while providing further weight reduction to the plinth which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.
Exact MM Cartridge
Each one of Rega's moving magnet cartridges are meticulously hand assembled to the highest standard by their highly trained technicians. The design and assembly procedure are focused on one simple goal, extracting as much music from your vinyl as possible. Each cartridge uses a pair of parallel wound coils which are then carefully assembled on custom jigs to create a working stereo generator. Each cartridge is then tested and checked over two days to ensure all of the strict parameters for each model are met before either packing or fitting to a Rega turntable.

Rega Exact Moving Magnet Cartridge
Critical to the reproduction of physical music is the relationship between the stylus, cartridge, and record. To result in a sound that is faithful to the original source material, a high level of precision must exist between all these components. Rega's Exact cartridge aims to achieve just that.
Sharing the same physical design as the rest of Rega's range of MM cartridges, you can be sure that this cartridge efficiently transfers the energy it picks up with no loss of energy between stylus and headshell.
Vital
The Exact cartridge is not just a step up from the Elys 2, it is more of a leap. This places the Exact in a ballpark of it's own compared to the rest of the Rega MM cartridge range.
The non-removable cantilever houses the "Vital" diamond-tip stylus. Made of complex fine line micro-ground from a rectangular diamond billet, the tip of this stylus fits into the record groove more precisely than the usual elliptical type. This allows more information to be gleaned from the records, resulting in a more dynamic and detailed reproduction of music.
