In addition to the unbalanced RCA analogue inputs and outputs, which are expected from a preamplifier at this level, the AD-1PRE+ comes equipped with high-quality balanced XLR inputs and outputs. Use these terminals for a superior connection to a power amplifier such as the matching ToneWinner AD-1PA+. A balanced connection has superior resistance to noise and interference ensuring a cleaner signal makes its way to your power amp.
For connecting a turntable, the AD-1PRE+ includes both MM and MC phono inputs. providing connections for both cartridge types ensures that turntables at all levels are supported by the AD-1PRE+ processor.
For high-end processing of digital signals via the optical, coaxial, and USB inputs, the AD-1PRE+ features the ESS9038 DAC, which enables the preamplifier to decode hi-resolution signals from digital sources. This high-end chip from ESS processes DSD signals up to 22.5MHz, and PCM signals up to 768kHz/32bit. The signal-to-noise ratio of the chip is as high as 129dB, and the distortion is as low as -120dB, ensuring that the analogue signal that is passed on to your power amplifier is as clear as possible.
Digital audio formats supported include DSD 512 (SACD, ISO, DST, DFF), AIFF, ALAC, APE, DIFF, DSF, FLAC, OGG, WAV, AAC, MP3, and WMA.
The current-voltage conversion circuit operational amplifier adopts OPA1632 from Texas Instruments, handling the high-fidelity performance of the balanced transmission signal to the greatest extent.
The balanced-to-unbalanced circuit operational amplifier adopts the same amplifier and results in distortion levels as low as 0.000015%, and noise is as low as 1.1nV/.
The electronic volume controller chip adopts JRC's top MUSES72323, with great performance in distortion, SNR and separation.
The MUSES72323 is an audio volume flagship product developed based on the MUSES concept. It was developed by taking advantage of the circuit technology, semiconductor process technology and assembly technology that has been cultivated in the MUSES series and repeating trial listening many times.
During operation, the AD-1PRE+ consumes 150W for dependent digital and analog circuits to support its strong processing abilities. In standby mode, the unit consumes 0.5W and can be woken up with the included remote control.
With Trigger Out connection, the AD-1PRE+ can be used to wake up other devices in your hi-fi system such as a power amp, source device, and more.
The AD-1PRE+ has been designed and constructed to physically separate the different sections of the device and thus ensure isolation from unwanted interference and noise.
The AD-1PRE+ utilises a specially-designed analogue power supply to improve the sound quality. The exterior of the whole unit adopts an aluminium alloy anodizing drawing process for durable performance.
