SS-7 Speaker Stands
There are several reasons why you should mount your speakers on stands rather than an ordinary surface. Firstly, stands allow you to position your speakers in the best spot for your listening environment. Secondly, is isolation. If you ask any hi-fi or pro-audio professional, they will tell you that it is critical for loudspeakers to be decoupled from the surface they're resting on, especially if that surface has other audio equipment such as amplifiers or turntables on it.

Isolation Matters
Separating your speakers and your furniture combats energy being transferred from the speakers to the surface. This creates unwanted resonances, ultimately affecting the clarity and quality of your sound. If your speakers are placed on the same structure as your hi-fi equipment, this will also prevent vibration from your speakers affecting the performance of your equipment.

All parts of these stands, from design to components used, play a role in isolating your speakers from the outside world. This careful design, typical of Solidsteel's products, enables your audio system to perform at the best it can.

Decoupling begins at the top of the stands. Separating the main structure and the top plate are three high precision ball bearings. This separates your speakers from the most resonant part of the stands.

The tripod design of the SS series is geometrically positioned to give each stand a sturdy support with minimum contact with the surrounding environment. Each leg ends with an adjustable floor spike, for even further isolation.
These decoupling floor spikes can be removed, allowing you to fill the frame with a damping material such as sand. This process is completely optional and gives you the ability to take this already solid stand to another level of acoustical isolation.

Always Level
Positioning your speakers at the correct height is key to achieving an ideal stereo or surround sound listening environment. The SS-5 stands position your speakers at 725mm above the floor. The same floor spikes that contribute towards the stands isolation are able to make small adjustments to the level of the tripod on uneven surfaces.

The heavy-duty stainless steel floor spikes are designed to stabilize these stands on carpeted floors. However, for hard surfaces or low-pile carpet, optional floor pads are available for protecting hard surfaces from becoming scratched by the spikes.
