Your Favorite Stations Reborn in High Fidelity
With digital radio, you not only get an impressively wide selection of stations to choose from, you can also enjoy clearer reception and the convenience of 40 preset channels at the touch of a button. Designed for enthusiasts who know a quality component when they see it, the T-4030 ensures that radio signals are kept free from interference—from the time they’re picked up by the supplied antennas right through to the amplification stage. Owners can choose to employ the tuner’s digital outputs to send DAB+, DAB, and FM Digital signals to the pre-amp for processing, or use the onboard Wolfson® DAC to create a pristine analog signal for your power amplifier. Either way, you can be assured of a deeper, clearer, and more expansive sound thanks to the audiophile-grade capacitor and tough anti-resonant construction. The tuner is RI-compatible to enable control of the device using your main system remote, and is packed with intelligent features to smooth your path to a world of talk radio, news, and music.
Digital and FM Radio in One Stylish Package
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) and its successor, DAB+, use efficient audio codecs to boost the number of stations that can be broadcast without sacrificing audio quality. This gives you, the listener, a much greater choice. Digital radio delivers sound quality that’s as good—and in most cases, better—than traditional FM broadcasts, while being less susceptible to environmental interference. The T-4030 comes supplied with digital radio antennas, as well as an antenna for FM broadcasts and all necessary cables.
VLSC™ Removes Pulse Noise From Digital Signals
Even when using a high-quality DAC to reduce digital pulse noise, you can't remove it completely. Onkyo’s VLSC employs a unique digital-to-analog conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between discrete sampling points, and these points are joined with analog vectors in real time. The result is a smooth, virtually noiseless analog signal based on the digital source.
High Quality Digital-to-Analog Sound Processing by Wolfson®
Further evidence of this product’s outstanding build quality comes in the form of its high-end audio processor. The T-4030 is fitted with a Wolfson digital-to-analog converter to create extremely accurate analog waveforms from the digital source. It’s high-resolution capability and fast sampling rates—as well as properties like excellent dynamic range and jitter resistance—make this DAC a firm favorite among audio enthusiasts.
VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry)
Virtually removes digital pulse noise for a smooth analog signal.
Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can't remove it completely. VLSC employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result—a virtually noiseless, smooth, analog signal based on the digital source that brings out even the most subtle of nuances in music sources (including DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD), DVD Video sources (including high-definition), broadcasts, digital music files such as MP3s, and gaming content.
DAB+ is based on the original DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) standard, but uses the more efficient MP4 or AAC+ codec, whereas DAB uses the older MP2 format. This allows equivalent or better subjective audio quality to be broadcast at lower bit rates, thereby allowing more stations to be added to a “multiplex”—meaning greater listening choice for the consumer. Most countries offering DAB now provide a DAB+ broadcasting service.
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting)
More than 1000 radio stations in over 20 countries around the world are now broadcasting using the DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) standard. Depending on your region, you can expect to hear the programs that are currently available via regular analog broadcast in digital format, as well as an additional selection of specialist programming to suit your taste, from music to talk radio. While DAB sound quality won’t generally exceed analog FM, it is more resistant to environmental and radio interference. Users can also enjoy the convenience of station selection by name, not frequency—as well as the display of programming and song information.
RI (Remote Interactive) Capability
Onkyo’s RI system lets you operate multiple RI-compatible components through a single remote control. RI capability also gives you further functionality with Onkyo’s Remote Interactive Dock for the iPod, including System On/System Off, Auto Power On, Auto Selector (Direct Change) and Timer functions.
