When NAD introduced the M50/M51/M52 Digital Music Suite in 2012 (in honour of their 40th anniversary) they were betting that audiophiles around the world would embrace the new digital format of High-Resolution Audio. These ‘highest quality’ recordings were just becoming available to consumers. For music lovers it was a dream come true. Exact copies of the Studio Master could now be easily downloaded, stored, and played back at any time in the home. Music lovers could finally get all the music the artist created. The Masters Suite makes it easy to download these high-res music files and securely store them, without reverting to using a computer for this task.
A lot has changed since NAD introduced the original Masters Digital Music Suite, but the M50 has kept abreast of these changes because of the incredible power of BluOS. This proprietary music-only operating system can be remotely updated to include new features and access to new sources of music. BluOS brings all your music together, from timeless CDs to cutting-edge 24/192 downloads; all are organized and easily accessed via the BluOS app.
Now, high-res music listening, multi-room wireless streaming, 24/192 storage and CD ripping can all be found in one beautiful component: the M50.2. With 4TB of internal storage featuring programmable RAID backup, this is a complete music solution that does not require a computer and is not prone to the viruses and program conflicts encountered when using a multi-purpose computer for music storage and playback. The M50.2 is a noise-free component that offers state-of-the-art digital performance and requires no additional programs to buy.
The M50.2 is a “software-defined” product, meaning that much of the functionality of the system is defined by software, not hardware. This means that new cloud services or audio codecs can be integrated at a future date by simply updating the software of the M50.2. This software upgrade potential means that there is a software ‘roadmap’ that allows the M50.2 to live on and maintain its cutting-edge functionality.
Since its introduction, the original M50 has added TuneIn Internet radio tuner, Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, iHeart Radio, Murfie, and many more. NAD has also included ‘direct download’ of High Res Audio from HDtracks.com and HighResAudio.com, allowing you to purchase and download new music from right inside the BluOS app. The new M50.2 uses the same BluOS software but has added some hardware features like a new, more powerful processor and Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX for direct audio streaming from a wide variety of popular devices.
The hardware of the M50.2 includes the latest generation of low power, super high-performance ARM processors that one can find. These have more computing power than a PC, yet run cool and do not require noisy fans. Many different digital outputs are supported in the hardware including SPDIF and HDMI. HDMI is included as it is a secure encrypted format that supports multiple channels of 24/192 High Res Audio in PCM’s native I2S format.
In addition to some of the most efficient and highest performing processors available, the M50.2 is elegantly designed, with a bright control panel and a sleek and streamlined look that is sure to fit any décor.
BluOS offers users the broadest array of music sources for high-resolution playback. Stream from a cloud service, plug in an existing digital music library from a hard drive or preserve media in its native format with “bit perfect” CD ripping. Wherever or however you access your music, enjoy it with the M50.2.
While it is possible to stream 24/96 music wirelessly, it is also possible to use a wired connection or local storage for HD music to avoid any possibility of dropouts. The Wi-Fi capability does offer the option of control from a smartphone or tablet with Wi-Fi, which is a fantastic way to enjoy your music collection.
The M50.2 CD transport can playback or rip to internal storage, and ripping is completely automatic. The BluOS app with a network connection to the Internet, allows this music management software to fetch metadata and cover art; organized and instantly available for playback without the need for a computer. You can browse your music collection using album art or category listing, and easily create playlists on the fly.
Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) is a revolutionary end-to-end technology built into every Bluesound Player that captures and delivers master quality audio to any room in your home. All Bluesound Players include a powerful decoder and audio renderer for the MQA system. The MQA logo shown in the BluOS app indicates that the unit is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and lets you know that you are hearing exactly what the artist recorded and approved in the studio.
The traditional integrated amp included the preamp control centre with the power amp in a single chassis. The downside of this was the reduced flexibility and possible interference by the high voltage power circuits to the highly sensitive preamp stages caused by cramming everything into one box. In the digital age, these limitations disappear. The signal can stay in the digital domain right up to the speaker outputs, making the M32 preamp impervious to interference from the power stage. Concerns about limited flexibility are erased by NAD’s innovative Modular Design Construction (MDC), which allows a greater density of inputs as well as the flexibility to upgrade complete circuits as future technologies unfold.
When it comes to the M32, NAD has combined all preamp and power amp functions into a single amplifying stage controlled by software. Highly advanced mathematics determines all control functions including volume and filters. This produces a dramatic reduction in noise and distortion, bringing you much closer to both the music and the performers. Traditional volume controls that change the gain in an active analogue circuit cannot approach the transparency of the M32. It also allows ‘perfect’ tone controls that only change tone, without adding phase shift or distortion. You can also easily bi-wire or add a subwoofer(s) with the built-in electronic crossover.
With 2 x 180W power on tap, the M32 can make almost any speaker sing. The M32 has virtually no distortion and a damping factor that is off the chart. This is all due to the innovative DirectDigital™ Feedback Amplifier built under license from Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR), which uses a form of digital error correction that is incredibly fast and accurate. This is a true digital amp (not just Class D) that is computer controlled and amplifies entirely in the digital domain, converting to analogue at the speaker terminals. This gives it the shortest signal path in NAD’s history.
Using a proprietary modular design, you can upgrade or expand your M32 as technologies emerge, ensuring a cost-effective way to keep the music “on” into the future
By placing inputs and associated circuitry on uniform upgradeable modules, the M32 can be custom tailored to cater to your exact requirements. There are a total of four MDC slots, with three being available for expansion. The preinstalled module is the SPDIF Module, including AES/EBU, 2 x Coax and 2 x Optical, all 24/192 capable. Additionally, there is a USB B port for connecting computers as well.
Thanks to NAD’s MDC technology, the M32 is ready for all future upgrades, ensuring that your system will never fall behind the times.
The M32 also has 2 x Line Inputs and an MM Phono Input that sounds incredible with vinyl. Accurate RIAA equalization, a clever phase canceling infrasonic filter, and a huge overload margin combine to bring out the best in your LPs. Furthermore, if you are a headphone enthusiast you’ll be thrilled at the sound of our discrete headphone amplifier, which is able to drive even planar and high impedance studio cans. With high voltage and low output impedance, your headphones will sound their best.
The all-alloy casework is elegant and practical. The single control knob for volume is supplemented by a TFT touchscreen display, which replaces a multitude of mechanical switches and expands the range of adjustments possible with detailed graphical readouts (IR remote is also included). Because the controls are all software-defined, you can add new controls and features by simply upgrading to new firmware. This is quite revolutionary and works hand-in-hand with MDC to create a future-proof digital music player. Rigid panels with magnetic iso-point feet provide a solid foundation for the multi-layer circuit boards and intricate internal construction. The M32 is a completely modern and fresh take on the traditional stereo amplifier, with features and performance from the future.
Advanced software-controlled algorithms result in the shortest signal path from source to speakers to produce virtually no distortion and a damping factor of over 1,000. This technology is among the fastest and most accurate amplification and error correction available.
In 1972, a new kind of audio company was born. NAD took form when a large group of audio-industry importers in Europe, all music lovers, set out to develop products that cut through the industry hype. The goal of NAD was to prove that excellent sound quality and excellent value could exist together. It was a formidable goal – some of the most reputable electronics brands of the time were unaffordable to most, while the affordable spectrum of the market was dominated by poor quality imports from global electronics giants. NAD’s founders remained undeterred and their original vision led to an inspiring story of how a group of specialty audio mavericks took on the Goliaths of the audio industry to carve out a unique place of their own.
NAD is dedicated to innovation, performance, value, and simplicity in all their products.
