World’s first home theatre projector capable of 8K60p/4K120p input

This projector adopts LSI's developed with the latest technology to process the vast amount of 8K input data, and an upconverter to bring any source up to high definition 8K resolution. As a result, more beautiful and realistic video images full of contrast and reality can be enjoyed regardless of the source, from video streaming to 4K UHD-BD videos.

Proprietary 8K e-shift Technology

JVCKENWOOD has made significant progress to their proprietary 8K/e-shift technology – which combines “e-shift” high-resolution display technology that doubles the resolution by shifting a pixel by 0.5 pixels, and 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA device. Shift direction has increased from the conventional two diagonal directions to four directions of up, down, left, and right, to enable display of 8K signal information in its entirety. The result is an 8K resolution, enhancing the sense of three-dimensionality and immersion.

JVCKENWOOD developed their 4K e-shift technology in 2011 and has been evolving it ever since. The 8K/e-shift technology adopted for the DLA-NZ9BE combines the 'e-shift' technology with another proprietary JVC innovation, Multi Pixel Control (MPC), to convert Full HD and 4K resolution images into 8K-equivalent resolution (8192 x 4320 pixels). The result is an eye-opening, ultra-high-definition image that is crisp and vibrant.

Refined 0.69" Native 4K D-ILA Image Processing

D-ILA projectors continue to evolve and the projection device is the heart of the projector. High-resolution image projection is reliant on the device and the optical system. The refined 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA device has doubled the speed required to display images from 120 Hz to 240 Hz-equivalent. The new Ultra-High Contrast Optics featured on the DLA-NZ9 contribute to achieve optical brightness as high as 2,500 lumens, and the new optics has dramatically improved the image quality by thoroughly suppressing the return of unnecessary light to the projection screen.

A 6-axis matrix of red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and yellow enables the precise adjustment of hue, saturation, and intensity. Only the colour that is being adjusted will be shown in colour while the others are grey-toned, making operation more intuitive.

Equipped with All-glass, Wide-diameter, High-resolution Lens

A high-performance lens system is essential for displaying the 8K high-definition information. The DLA-NZ9 is equipped with an 18-element, 16-group all-glass lens featuring a full aluminium lens barrel. In order to project high-resolution 8K images to every corner of the screen, the projector incorporates five ED lenses calibrated for differences in the R/G/B refractive index to reduce chromatic aberration and colour fringing when lens shift kicks in to deliver precise reproduction of 4K- or 8K-resolution projection.

Reliability-proved BLU-Escent Laser Diode for exceptional brightness and longevity

The light source for the DLA-NZ9 projector is the latest blue laser diode BLU-Escent, which is featured in JVC projectors. BLUEscent technology has been adopted for home theatre projectors to achieve exceptional brightness and longevity of 20,000 hours. Laser diode allows dynamic control of brightness to reproduce images that are closer to human perception. Combining the latest BLU-Escent package with the D-ILA device achieves detailed, smooth, powerful video expression.

Unparalleled black level and high luminance deliver images brimming with reality

Native contrast as high as 80,000:1 is delivered by this projectors' optical engine alone. But on top of that, in combination with the dynamic light source control, an astonishing dynamic contrast of ∞ (infinity) :1 can be achieved thanks to the BLU-Escent light source.

Low Latency Mode Excellent for Projecting PC Content and Games

Latest generation game consoles capable of outputting high-spec 4K game images are now available, which leads to increased demand among users who want to play 4K/HDR games on a BIG screen. This projector is equipped with 4K120p inputs, meaning signal latency is infinitesimal, making it effective when displaying high frame-rate gaming content on large screens. What’s more, Low Latency Mode reduces delay in displaying PC signals and games, and improves response to the users’ rapid operations.

Because high-bandwidth signals can be processed without applying any conversion, the image displayed on the screen from input to panel will be the same without degrading the video signal quality. With the 4K120p input and Low Latency Mode the DLA-NZ9 presents new possibilities for high-quality gaming on large screens.

HDR10+ Support allows a choice for two dynamic tone mappings

When it comes to reproducing the rich video information of HDR content including the extended brightness range, BT.2020 wide colour gamut and 10-bit gradation, rely on this new D-ILA projector. The DLA-NZ9 supports all HDR formats including HDR10 for Blu-ray and streaming, HLG for broadcasting, and the latest HDR10+ signal format with dynamic metadata compatibility.

JVC projectors are compatible with the two dynamic tone mappings of HDR10+ and Frame Adapt HDR. HDR10+ contains the metadata of the producer's intentions for each scene, Frame Adapt HDR instantly analyses the peak brightness in HDR10 content using an original algorithm. Ensuring you can watch any HDR content in optimal picture quality.

The Auto Tone Mapping function featured on the latest models automatically adjusts each content based on the values in the mastering data, such as Max CLL and Max FALL, which indicate the brightness of the HDR content. Image quality is automatically adjusted for optimal viewing of various HDR images with different brightness.

Theatre Optimizer for optimal reproduction of HDR content suitable to each environment

The brightness of the projector screen varies depending on the screen size, gain, frequency of use, and settings. JVC projectors intelligently adjust tone mapping so that the content can be viewed at the appropriate brightness by automatically analysing the environment in which the projector is used, simply by entering the screen size and gain information under Theater Optimizer in the Frame Adapt HDR picture mode. This ensures reference picture quality at the appropriate brightness, suitable to each custom home theatre environment.

JVC projectors featuring Frame Adapt HDR and Theater Optimizer can express HDR/HDR10+ content at optimum brightness and darkness in each scene as the creator intended.

Clear Motion Drive for Exceptional Motion Image Processing

Motion Enhance technology optimally controls the driving performance of D-ILA drives by image characteristics, the projector is capable of reproducing much smoother moving 4K images. The custom interpolation algorithm reduces ghosting and has been overhauled to improve compensation accuracy in the periphery of intersecting objects. The improved algorithm now refers to more frames to increase precision of motion prediction and also reduces frame latency. Additionally, when Clear Motion Drive is set to low, it recreates the natural 24fps signal processing adopted on films, while pursuing an effect like de-juddering without a sense of discomfort.

Frame Adapt HDR

The JVC DLA-NZ9 instantly analyzes the peak brightness for each scene and frame of content and automatically adjusts the dynamic range.

Frame Adapt HDR dynamically tone maps any HDR10 content frame-by-frame or scene-by-scene and automatically performs adjustment to achieve optimal images close to reality as seen by human eyes. As a part the Frame Adapt HDR, the projector offers improved gamma processing accuracy from 12- to 18-bit equivalent to reproduce smoother and finer gradation

Installation Mode

The JVC DLA-NZ9 is equipped with "Installation Mode" that allows you to centrally manage settings related to installation in order to enjoy projected video best suited for your unique viewing environment. Nine settings for Lens Control, Pixel Adjustment, Mask, Anamorphic on or off, Screen Adjust, Installation Style, Keystone, Pincushion, and Aspect can be adjusted. Additionally, ten different mode settings can be stored in memory that can be named as desired and can be called up immediately.

Lens Shift

The Lens Shift function is used to install the projector with flexibility. Vertical/horizontal wide shift ranges help project images without distortion. In order to project high-resolution images to every corner of the screen, the lens offers a wide lens shift of ±80% vertically and ±34% horizontally.

Intake/exhaust layout and footprint designed for ease of installation.

The rear air intake and front exhaust layout provide flexibility for a variety of installations. It is now possible to mount the DLA-NZ9 closer to the rear wall without risking overheating. Screw holes at the feet are compatible with a conventional ceiling-mount bracket, while the anti-skid grooves prevent the projector from slipping when installed.

Functional Beauty to Clearly Project Images. Boasted by D-ILA

Adopting the legendary centre panelling of the JVC D-ILA projectors, the new form has no decorative lines but only features simplicity for the pursuit of its functionality. The symmetrical design centred on the lens that is set in the core conveys a stately form with a sharp impression that fits the new generation models.
