Beautiful engineering

Designers often argue that a product's functional and aesthetic qualities are closely related. Bowers & Wilkins couldn't agree more with this remark. In fact, the solid body tweeter on top of each 702 speaker is a case in point. It's an object engineered first and foremost for acoustic performance. However, in its minimal simplicity, it's also undeniably beautiful.

This is a philosophy that runs deep in the DNA of the 700 Series. A speaker range that's music to your ears, and very easy on your eyes as well.

Solid-body tweeter

The 702 speakers employ solid body tweeters, a high-performance design feature found previously only on the 800 Series Diamond. Their acoustically-optimised form is milled from a solid block of aluminium, forming a structure that's exceptionally inert and resistant to resonances.

Sharper detail

Carbon Dome tweeters are a brand new technology purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium Double-dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, well outside the human range of hearing. This allows pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail, without any unwanted noise disturbing your listening.

Continuum cone

Voices and instruments are delivered with purity and precision, thanks to the smooth, accurate Continuum cone midrange driver. First introduced with the 800 Series Diamond, the Continuum cone represents the biggest step-change in midrange performance since Kevlar. Its woven coated material provides highly controlled break-up, resulting in a more open, neutral midrange.

This woven composite material offers more flexibility and driver control than Kevlar. They also offer lower noise and better self-dampening, and the impulse response time is far quicker than previous cone technologies.

Developed over an eight-year period, the Continuum cone was first featured on the flagship 800 Series Diamond models, including the 800 D3, now in use in Abbey Road Studios. It truly makes your music come alive, delivering the crucial sounds fundamental to any great music experience.

Midrange chassis

The three floor-standing loudspeakers in the range employ a new FEA-optimised aluminium chassis for the midrange drivers. This new design is stiffer than the zinc chassis of the CM Series, for improved control and cleaner midrange presentation.

Fixed Suspension Transducer

The cone on the FST midrange driver is unlike almost all other midrange drivers ever made because it does not have a roll surround around its periphery to assist with cone movement. Instead its suspension is "fixed", which is why Bowers & Wilkins refers to this driver type as a "Fixed Suspension Transducer" or "FST". This system is employed by Bowers & Wilkins as it sports advantages such as improved transient response, improved damping and a reduction in dynamic distortion.

Decoupled midrange

In addition to the mounted tweeters, the midrange drivers in these floor-standers also feature a decoupled design, adapted from a similar system in the 800 Series Diamond. Decoupling reduces cabinet colouration, and further improves midrange clarity.

Aerofoil Profile cone

The new Aerofoil Profile bass cone has the same variable thickness design as the bass cones in 800 Series Diamond speakers.

Developed using advanced computer modeling techniques, it provides stiffness and rigidity where it's needed most. The result: deep and dynamic bass.

The bass reflex port is located on the rear baffle. Although the port tubing is made from a smooth-surfaced material, the flared exit is made from a dimpled polypropylene material that minimises turbulence as the air exits (and enters!) the port.

This Flowport system from Bowers & Wilkins creates a low-end response that is deep, yet controlled and clear.

Studio sound comes home - Introducing Bowers & Wilkins' new 700 Series.

Bring the breathtaking clarity and definition of studio sound home with the new 700 Series. Replacing the CM Series, the range combines studio-grade 800 Series Diamond technologies with purpose-built innovations to elevate home audio to an entirely new level. And all this from room-friendly cabinets designed to fit beautifully into your home environment.

The 700 Series is an entirely new range of speakers. Compared with the outgoing CM Series, every transducer has changed and radically improved. To do this, Bowers & Wilkins has borrowed some of the most advanced technologies from their flagship 800 Series Diamond, adapting them to suit a more attainable price point. And they've introduced entirely new technologies, designed specifically for this range.

The new 700 Series. Inspired by recording studios. Made for living rooms.

You can hear the engineering excellence and passion, and that is why Bowers & Wilkins' speakers are used in leading recording studios around the world, such as the legendary Abbey Road Studios, due to the accuracy they provide. Bowers & Wilkins is a global leader in bringing music and sound to your ears - and your experience - the way it was meant to be heard.

A great speaker does more than allow you to hear music. It acts as a bridge - a way to close the divide between listener and performance. Listen to 700 Series speakers, and music feels alive. You discover details you never noticed before. You can place every instrument, every note, every intake of breath, with flawless accuracy. You can sense the emotion in the room. Suddenly, you're no longer just listening to a recorded performance. You're right there, with the performer in the studio.
