Summary

Airplate T7 - 12" Cabinet Cooling USB Fan System with Thermal Controller

The ultra-quiet fan system is designed to cool home theatres, entertainment centres, and audio video cabinets. Included fans use a custom motor engineered to minimize noise during speed variations and are certified by CE and RoHS. Contains AC Infinity axial fans ACX-FD1225(B)05W5 which meet UL-507 standards for safety under Underwriters Laboratories certificate E503903. Containing dual ball bearings rated at 67,000 hours, the unit can be mounted in any direction. Features a CNC machined aluminium frame with a modern brushed black finish. Fans are set to exhaust air out the frame but this can be reversed to intake air using a screw driver. Includes all necessary hardware to easily mount the unit onto a cabinet and power it through a standard wall outlet.

    Key Features:

    • An ultra-quiet UL-certified fan system designed for cooling cabinets that requires minimal noise
    • Automated programming that self-adjusts cooling power in response to changing temperatures
    • Features a LCD display with an alarm system, display lock, six fan speeds, two buffer options, and memory
    • Fan and controller contain CNC machined aluminium frames with a modern brushed black finish
    • Airflow: 52 CFM | Noise: 18 dBA | Bearings: Dual Ball

    Thermal Controller

The controller features an onboard processor with active temperature monitoring as well as intelligent programming that will automatically adjust fan speeds to respond to varying temperatures. Additional features include an alarm system, display lock or off while programs are running, six fan speeds, three back-light settings, two buffer options, and power failure memory. Features a detachable 6-foot precision thermal probe that is water-resistant.

    Connecting Additional Units

For cabinets that require more airflow, additional AIRPLATE S series cabinet fans can be connected to the included thermal controller. Up to six fans can share the same thermal controller or wall outlet power source. AIRPLATE S3/T3 contains one fan, AIRPLATE S7/T7 contains two fans, and AIRPLATE S9/T9 contains three fans.

    Applications

This ultra-quiet cooling system is popular in a variety of applications including home theatres, entertainment centres, and audio video cabinets; and smaller enclosures and racks holding computers, receivers, amplifiers, and other AV equipment.

    Installation Guide - Cabinet Cooling

All ventilation fan systems should contain an intake and an exhaust variable, which can be fans or ventilation holes. In an ideal set up, there should be a fan located near the top of the cabinet configured to exhaust out air, and a fan located near the bottom to push in air. Electronics such as receivers and computers within a cabinet will cause air to heat up. Due to natural convection, warmer air which is less dense than colder air will rise on its own. An efficient fan system helps accelerate natural convection by rapidly exhausting warmer air out the top of the cabinet while pushing colder air in at the bottom.

Cabinet fan systems that contain only one fan should have it configured to exhaust hot air out the top of the cabinet. There must be ventilation holes located elsewhere on the cabinet, preferably towards the bottom to act as an air intake. Using fans to push air out will cause negative or lowered pressure within the cabinet. Because air moves naturally from high pressure to low pressure areas, outside air will flow into the cabinet from the ventilation holes. Poorly designed systems include set-ups where there are one or more fans to exhaust air, but no other fans or ventilation holes to act as the air intake.

We Recommend 3 Air Changes per Minute

Every fan has a CFM rating - that’s the volume of air it moves per minute. A higher CFM means faster ventilation. But keep in mind, manufacturer ratings are measured under near-perfect conditions: no heat load, no restrictions, zero static pressure. In the real world, actual performance is always lower.

Inside your cabinet, airflow is influenced by the number of components, the heat they generate, and how freely air can move in and out. That’s why our calculator aims for roughly three complete air changes per minute. This ensures reliable cooling for most AV and electronics cabinets.

Tip: If your cabinet is tightly packed, poorly vented, or located in a warm room, step up to the next fan size or add an extra exhaust unit for peace of mind.
