Brea @ Mowbray is a luxury holiday rental nestled in the tropical surrounds of Port Douglas. With a sleek, modern design and panoramic mountain views, it offers the kind of serenity that invites guests to truly unwind.
The owners came to us at Selby Acoustics with a clear goal: create a high-quality audio experience throughout the home that was intuitive for guests, elegant in design, and future-ready.
The home already featured wall-mounted Hisense Smart TVs in the three bedrooms, lounge, and alfresco area. Our job was to bring the audio to life — and make it effortless to enjoy.
The Brief: Intuitive Audio, Elegant Integration
The key objectives were:
- Quality sound throughout the home and outdoor entertaining areas
- A unified, multiroom system guests could easily control
- The ability to group or isolate zones as needed
- Removal of legacy Foxtel boxes and simplified access to free-to-air and streaming TV
- No invasive rewiring or aesthetic compromise
Audio, Zone by Zone
Lounge Room
The main lounge features a 75" TV, with audio powered by a Wiim Amp and Scansonic M20 speakers via HDMI ARC. Guests get full, rich sound with simple control — perfect for casual watching or movie nights. The space is also cinema-ready for future upgrades.
Dining & Living Area
Each space includes a stylish, powerful wireless speaker that blends beautifully into the décor while delivering exceptional audio. Ideal for background music or ambient vibes throughout the day.
Bedrooms
Every bedroom includes a portable C3 speaker, linked to the home's multiroom system but also usable via Bluetooth. Guests can take their music outside or offline as needed — perfect for poolside relaxation.
Alfresco & Pool Area
Discreet ceiling speakers powered by a Wiim Amp provide full audio coverage for both the deck and pool area. The Polk V80s were chosen specifically to suit existing cutouts and shallow ceiling cavities.
Unified Control via Wiim
All Wiim and Audio Pro components are easily controlled using the Wiim app, allowing guests to group or adjust rooms as they like. They can control everything via:
- The provided Google Pixel Tablet (voice control supported)
- Their own devices via the Wiim app
- Direct streaming through Spotify, Tidal, or Bluetooth
Clear instructions are included in the welcome pack, making setup a breeze even for non-tech-savvy visitors.
Ditching Foxtel: Simplified TV with Fetch
To streamline entertainment, we replaced all Foxtel boxes with Fetch TV — using the existing cabling. Each TV now provides access to free-to-air and streaming apps without the cost or complexity of Foxtel, and no additional wiring needed.
