Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - In Cinemas Now

In a sequel to the 2011 film Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this film becomes the eighth in the long running franchise which began back in 1968 based upon the 1963 French novel La Planète des singes.

This instalment stars Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, who are some of the human survivors of a devastating virus which was spread a decade earlier. They watch on as genetically evolved apes led by Caeser are threatened by another group of survivors who are determined to take control of Earth.

No longer willing to participate in a brittle peace which had been in place for a decade, both apes and humans find themselves on the brink of war, resolute in their desire to prevail over the other. Where friendships once stood, coexistence appears impossible as the strong and relentless strive toward their own agenda.

Combining live action with CG certainly allows us to feel more emotionally connected to all the characters, whether human or ape. The tensions which build up between the two groups shows how fear, intolerance and violence affects society.
