HTM72 S2 is a great choice for home cinema set-ups in smaller rooms, where space is at a premium. Partner it up with the more compact 700 Series speakers, such as the 706 S2 or the 704 S2.
The Carbon Dome tweeter is a brand new technology purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium Double-dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, well outside the human range of hearing. This allows pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail, without any unwanted noise disturbing your listening.
Voices and instruments are delivered with purity and precision, thanks to the smooth, accurate Continuum cone midrange driver. First introduced with the 800 Series Diamond, the Continuum cone represents the biggest step-change in midrange performance since Kevlar. Its woven coated material provides highly controlled break-up, resulting in a more open, neutral midrange.
This woven composite material offers more flexibility and driver control than Kevlar. They also offer lower noise and better self-dampening, and the impulse response time is far quicker than previous cone technologies.
Developed over an eight-year period, the Continuum cone was first featured on the flagship 800 Series Diamond models, including the 800 D3, now in use in Abbey Road Studios. It truly makes your music come alive, delivering the crucial sounds fundamental to any great music experience.
The cone on the FST midrange drivers are unlike almost all other midrange drivers ever made as they do not have a roll surround around their periphery to assist with cone movement. Instead, their suspension is "fixed", which is why B&W refers to this driver type as a "Fixed Suspension Transducer" or "FST". This system is employed by B&W as it sports advantages such as improved transient response, improved damping and a reduction in dynamic distortion.
The bass reflex port is located on the rear baffle. Although the port tubing is made from a smooth-surfaced material, the flared exit is made from a dimpled polypropylene material that minimises turbulence as the air exits (and enters!) the port.
This Flowport system from B&W creates a low-end response that is deep, yet controlled and clear.
Bring the breathtaking clarity and definition of studio sound home with the new 700 Series. Replacing the CM Series, the range combines studio-grade 800 Series Diamond technologies with purpose-built innovations to elevate home audio to an entirely new level. And all this from room-friendly cabinets designed to fit beautifully into your home environment.
The 700 Series is an entirely new range of speakers. Compared with the outgoing CM Series, every transducer has changed and radically improved. To do this, B&W has borrowed some of the most advanced technologies from their flagship 800 Series Diamond, adapting them to suit a more attainable price point. And they've introduced entirely new technologies, designed specifically for this range.
The new 700 Series. Inspired by recording studios. Made for living rooms.
You can hear the engineering excellence and passion, and that is why B&W's speakers are used in leading recording studios around the world, such as the legendary Abbey Road Studios, due to the accuracy they provide. Bowers & Wilkins is a global leader in bringing music and sound to your ears - and your experience - the way it was meant to be heard.
A great speaker does more than allow you to hear music. It acts as a bridge - a way to close the divide between listener and performance. Listen to 700 Series speakers, and music feels alive. You discover details you never noticed before. You can place every instrument, every note, every intake of breath, with flawless accuracy. You can sense the emotion in the room. Suddenly, you're no longer just listening to a recorded performance. You're right there, with the performer in the studio.
